10 Favorite Trucks at the 2010 Back to the 50's Show
71Favorite Trucks at This Year's Show
I am collecting a few of my favorite pictures of trucks I saw at the 2010 Back to the 50's show in St. Paul, MN. There are nearly 12,000 autos at this show each year for this 3 day event, and you cannot possibly see all cars even if you go all 3 days. I went all 3 days this year as I normally do, and I took over 600 photos. Unfortunately I do not have the best camera, and the weekend was a scorcher with temperatures near 90 degrees and the sun beating hard. Many of the cool paint jobs I liked did not turn out in the photographs. I will likely upgrade my camera for next year, but I will share these anyways.
I am going to make this a mini top 10 list, only because I have many more lists to make. I will eventually make a real top 10 list after I go through all 600 photos.
10. Studebaker Rat Rod - 1952
I have a small fascination with rat rods, so I had to include one on this list. If you do not know what a rat rod is, it is a hot rod or any other old car or truck that looks unrestored. Many people look at them as pieces of junk, but they are artistic on their own right. Sometimes they are completely unrestored, and are just left how they were found or how they have been for 50 years. Most often they are "designed" or built to look old.
9. Diamond T - 1941
I don't know much about this truck other than it looks really cool, and it has some big back tires. I'm assuming the front grille has to be a modification or a custom design as I have not seen it anywhere else that I can remember.
8. Orange Studebaker - 1950
I really wish this photo would have turned out, because the truck was really a sight to see in person. Hopefully I can find it again next year when I have a better camera, and hopefully better weather.
7. Orange Ford Truck - 1964
Ok, so you are seeing a pattern here. Orange trucks. Yes, I never thought I liked orange until I saw these trucks. The spectacular paint jobs these trucks had really came through with the orange color, and with the wax and bright sun these shined brightly. Very eye catching.
6. Green Chevy Pickup Truck - 1940
Alright, let's get a different color going here. This truck had great detail inside and out, and it was the few trucks I saw with a cover over the back bed.
5. Chevy Truck - 1950
This is a simple gray painted truck, but the simple and beautiful design of the 1950 Chevy truck really comes out with this example.
4. Chevy Pickup - 1946
Another one, where the photo just does not show the real beauty of the paint job. I love the bright deep blue mixed with the gray, and the interior of this truck looked great also.
3. Dodge 100 Sweptside - 1959
Today Dodge is big in the pickup truck market, but in the 1950's and 1960's Dodge was a distant 3rd to Ford and Chevrolet. I like the style and color, so I'm not sure why they were so far behind in sales. Must have been the marketing? Anyhow, this is a really nice truck which I believe is mostly unrestored.
2. Unknown Chevy Pickup
The owner of this truck was niot around for me to talk to him and get what year/model this was, and the tag on the truck did not display it either. All I know it is a Chevy model, and it has a "10" logo on the side. I really loved the colors of this truck, and there were not many trucks from the later 1950's or early 1960's, which I have to believe this truck is from.
If anyone knows the year and or model, please comment below so I can update this. Thanks!
1. Firetruck - 1935
This 1935 firetruck has been beautifully restored, and I marveled at it for a good 10 minutes. I wish I would have got a better picture of the nearly all chrome engine, but you can see it there a little bit in the photo.
